We present the revered shrine of Khwaja Makhdoom Muhammad Zaman-ul-Lawari, a perfect saint, the founder of Khanqah-e-Lawari Sharif, and a highly esteemed Sufi saint of the Naqshbandi order. His revered name is Muhammad Zaman, and he is renowned by the title of Khwaja Kalaan. The lineage of Khwaja Zaman traces back to the first Caliph, Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him). Their lineage settled in Sindh during the era of Abbasid Caliphs like Mahdi or Harun al-Rashid.
The father of Hazrat Makhdoom, Sheikh Abdul Latif, was himself a revered figure of piety, knowledge, and wisdom. Hazrat Makhdoom had a particular emphasis on following Shariah principles and always endeavored to ensure that his disciples adhered to the commands of Shariah and the traditions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in their entirety.
His generosity was such that he never kept anything saved in his house; whatever he had, he distributed among the poor and needy. On the day of his demise, there was nothing left in his house, and whatever remained, he donated in the way of Allah. He had numerous successors and disciples.
Here, no charity is accepted, nor is permission granted to touch the sacred shrine. The Langar Khana (communal kitchen) is managed by the honorable Pir Saadiq Qureshi, who is currently seated on the spiritual throne. Hundreds of people dine here daily with full satisfaction.
