QAU History Department to Establish a Rafique Afzal Wing

QAU History Department is the leading History department of Pakistan with a legacy of renowned scholars and researchers ever produced in Pakistan i.e. Rafique Afzal, Dr. Viqar Ali Shah, Waheed uz Zaman, Aslam Syed etc.
Prof. Dr. M. Rafique Afzal (1941-2020), served with distinction at the Quaid-i-Azam University, Department of History, Islamabad, and the National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research, Islamabad. He authored A History of the All-India Muslim League, 1906-1947(OUP, 2013), Political Parties in Pakistan(3 Volumes), and the Case for Pakistan. He remained Chairperson of the Department of History for three non-consecutive tenures and retired as Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences. The entire QAU History community remembers Dr. Rafique Afzal for his grace, wisdom, and kindness, as well as for the exacting standard of professional excellence he set. As the Department marks its 50thYear, it has resolved to renovate and dedicate one wing to his memory. The Rafique Afzal Wing will include a classroom for research students, a record room properly sealed for preservation purposes, and a gallery space for a small museum and display of art. We hope that alumni and benefactors will contribute to this project and add their names to the remembrance frame that will grace the wing once the renovation work is complete. The work on the Rafique Afzal wing is nearly complete and the last date for contributions dedicated to the Wing is July 10, 2023. All donations received by end of day July 10, will be commemorated by inclusion of the donors’ names in the donors’ frame on the pattern of the Waheed Uz Zaman seminar Hall last year.
