The administration of Khanpur Dam opened the spillways of the reservoir because it was filled with its maximum capacity water. The Simli Dam is filled 92%. Last year it was filled only 30%.
The officials opened the spillways around 9am so that it may be filled with more during the rainy season. The spillways remained open till 12 pm. The reservoir reached its maximum water level that’s why they released the water to create more space.
Before releasing the spillways the administration of Khanpur Dam made announcements to the public to take precautionary measures for safety while crossing the river.
Now the twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be provided with enough water and people will be at ease.
