Multan Sultans faced a challenge when two of their key players, Josh Little and Shahnawaz Dahani, were out. Their pace attack was expected to be their weakness. However, the 20-year-old Pakistani pace bowler, Ihsanullah, stepped up to the plate and delivered an outstanding performance. His bowling figures of 4-1-12-5 were simply scintillating, and Quetta Gladiators were bowled out for a paltry score of 110. Sultans, led by Rilee Rossouw's unbeaten 42-ball 78, had no trouble chasing down the target and winning the match by nine wickets with 6.3 overs to spare. This win also helped boost their net run rate.
Quetta Gladiators won the toss and decided to bowl first. However, they got off to a poor start when Martin Guptill and Abdul Bangalzai were dismissed early. Jason Roy tried to steady the ship, but his dismissal was followed by Iftikhar Ahmed's, which led to a double-wicket maiden for Ihsanullah. Umar Akmal, Mohammad Nawaz, and Naseem Shah were all dismissed cheaply by Ihsanullah, who ended up with impressive figures of 5 for 12. Mohammad Hafeez and Mohammad Hasnain tried to add some runs to the board, but Gladiators could only manage a total of 110 runs.
In the second innings, Nuwan Thushara got an early wicket by dismissing Shan Masood. However, Rossouw soon started hitting boundaries and took charge of the chase. Rizwan played a supporting role and helped Rossouw take the team towards victory. With 14 runs required, Rossouw hit two consecutive sixes to end the match and secure a comfortable victory for Sultans.
Overall, it was an outstanding performance by Ihsanullah and Rossouw, and Sultans will be pleased to have secured a convincing win to boost their net run rate.
