Actor's Laboratory's latest production, "Chandni Chowk," a family comedy, recently took the stage at Sir Syed Memorial Society Auditorium, G-5 in Islamabad on August 30th and 31st, 2025. While the play had its moments, it could benefit from some fine-tuning to truly resonate with audiences.

The acting, for instance, showed promise, but some characters felt like they could be further developed. Chaudhary Sohrab's portrayal, in particular, might benefit from a bit more subtlety to make the character more relatable. Other notable characters were Shakoor, Sherry, Yamaha, Sohrab etc. Ayesha Ayub was as good as she has always been onstage.

The pacing of the play was mostly engaging, but there were moments where it felt like the story could be tightened up to keep the audience fully invested. Despite these areas for improvement, the audience appreciated the effort put into the production.

It's heartening to see Actor's Laboratory continuing to contribute to Islamabad's theatre scene, and their ambition to take "Chandni Chowk" to 50 shows across Pakistan is commendable. With some further refinement, this play has the potential to delight audiences nationwide.

Kudos to Saad Farrukh Khan and the entire team for their dedication to bringing live theatre to the forefront. Here's hoping that future productions will continue to grow and flourish.
