As the water shortage is increasing with time. Now the Reverse Osmosis Desalination (ROD) Plant will reduce the water shortage as it has the capacity of 1.2 million gallon per day (MGD). China will grant Gwadar 1.2 MGD to provide 5000 tons of household water per day. The Seawater Desalination Project is under construction by Chinese and local workers.

This project aims that it will provide fresh portable water to the people of Gwadar city. 

The project objective is to develop water transmission pipelines from Swad Dam and Shadi Kaur Dam to Gwadar city to meet the future water demand of the city. This project has been approved by the Federal Government.
