Renowned Pakistani actor Qavi Khan has passed away at the age of 80 while staying in Canada for his treatment. Arts Council Karachi President Muhammad Ahmad Shah confirmed the news on Sunday, expressing his condolences and referring to Khan as a "great actor who had left an indelible mark on the showbiz industry". Khan, who hailed from Peshawar, had a decades-long career in television, theatre, films, and radio. He began his career at a young age at Radio Pakistan Peshawar and rose to stardom in television and film. Despite the decline of the film industry, Khan continued to showcase his artistic ability and eventually landed in the director's chair. He was conferred with the Sitara-i-Imtiaz, Nigar Awards, and a Pride of Performance for his high achievements in the industry. Khan was last seen in Fizza Ali Meerza and Nabeel Qureshi's Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad and had to leave the project Meri Shehzadi due to his failing health.
