The 16th of February will mark the observance of Childhood Cancer Awareness Day during the 4th match of PSL 8, where the 2020 PSL champion, Karachi Kings, will play against Islamabad United at the National Bank Cricket Arena in Karachi. Players from both teams will wear golden caps and ribbons to promote awareness about childhood cancer.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has a tradition of using the popularity and reach of the Pakistan Super League to create a positive impact on society, and as part of its corporate social responsibility, the PCB will observe Childhood Cancer Awareness Day on the 16th of February. The media release issued by the PCB on Wednesday stated that around 400,000 children worldwide develop cancer each year, with an estimated 90,000 children in Pakistan affected by the disease. However, most forms of cancer in children can be cured through generic medicines and other forms of treatment, including surgery and radiotherapy.

The PCB has selected the Karachi Kings v Islamabad United match at the National Bank Cricket Arena to raise awareness about the prevalence of childhood cancer in Pakistan and to emphasize the importance of vigilance of symptoms and early intervention. The PCB also expressed solidarity with the victims and their families, who are going through a difficult journey. Two pediatric cancer patients and five little survivors, along with their families, have been invited to the ground, where the two captains will present them with signed team shirts.

The players will don golden caps and golden ribbons, and other activities on the day will include LED parameter boards and a big screen displaying messages about cancer awareness. Commentators will wear golden ribbons and announce cancer awareness messages during the commentary, and the stumps will be branded in gold. This is the fifth consecutive season that the PCB has observed Childhood Cancer Awareness Day during the PSL since 2019.
